There are over 2000 active cases of COVID-19 in Barbados currently.
This revelation from Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anton Best, who has described the COVID-19 situation in Barbados as dire.
Dr. Best made the comments during a press conference this morning, which was convened by COVID-19 Public Advisor David Ellis.
The Acting Chief Medical Officer says in addition to the over 800 people in isolation facilities, 1486 people are currently isolating at home.
Dr. Best also outlined the increase in cases over the past few months. He says in August, Barbados recorded 689 new cases. However in September the figure jumped by around 500%, with 3500 new cases recorded in that month. So far for October, over 1000 cases have been recorded.
The Acting Chief Medical Officer has urged Barbadians not yet vaccinated, to get the jab.
