Barbadians are being told to pay greater attention to nutrition labels on food items when shopping.
That advice from Community Nutrition Officer with the National Nutrition Centre, Marrianne Burnham.
Speaking on the ‘Your Health, Your Action’ programme, which focused on understanding nutrition in the battle with non-communicable diseases, she explained Barbadians consume way more than the recommended amount of salt.
Ms. Burnham has also voiced concern about the high sugar content in some flavoured waters.
