Plans to acquire new Omicron-specific vaccines

A teenager is among the most recent deaths from COVID-19 in Barbados…

…and though cases are trending downwards, there’s still concern about the number of admissions to hospital with patients in serious condition.

Health Minister, Senator Dr. The Most Honourable Jerome Walcott gave a COVID situation analysis in an exclusive interview with CBC News.

He says the positivity rate has declined from around 25% recorded in November and December last year, to around 13% registered so far for 2023.

However, he says in light of recent deaths, it’s clear the Ministry of Health and the public still need to be vigilant.

The Health Minister has also revealed plans to acquire new Omicron-specific or bivalent vaccines.
