The price increase of animal feeds in Barbados has been blamed on drought in Brazil and increased demand for grain in China.
Sole producers of the product, Pinnacle Feeds, would not be drawn into comment on the pricing issue only saying they are awaiting word from Government after a recent meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
Company Director Jason Sambrano said external factors have had a negative effect on local production.
Mr. Sambrano also said the pandemic, as well as the prevailing global climate had effects on the operation locally and internationally.
