Prime Minister ‘disappointed and angered’ about industrial action

December 16th, 2021

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is deeply disappointed and angered about the industrial action taken by the Unity Workers Union, with some 30 nurses withholding services.

The Prime Minister says disruption was being caused to the country in what is silly season, with the removal of nursing services and the comments made by leader of the union Senator Caswell Franklyn.

She said it goes against industrial practice and the sick and elderly should not be used as a platform for political battles.

Prime Minister Mottley made the comments following a meeting with the social partnership.

The situation has also not found favour with other unions and members of the social partnership.

President of the National Union of Public Workers Kimberley Agard who represents the majority of nurses, says they are willing to remain at the table and resolve the issues.
