An increase in the pensionable age for the National Insurance Scheme is among changes being considered for Barbadians.
The disclosure from Actuary with the National Insurance Board, Derek Osborne at a press conference today. Also attending were Deputy Chairman Rawdon Adams and Chief Executive Officer Kim Tudor.
Mr. Osborne says a revitalised NIS system should provide benefits that meet the needs of Barbadians through contributions employers and workers can afford.
He insists protection of the most vulnerable will be a priority in any changes to the National Insurance Scheme.
The Actuary told the media after fifty-five years, all existing benefits will be reviewed, ensuring those who are to benefit receive their fair share.
