As the public debate continues about the National Insurance Fund, a Government Minister has called on the Democratic Labour Party to tell Barbadians why it did not pay any contributions for public servants for three years.
According to Minister in the Ministry of Finance Ryan Straughn, the decision resulted in 250 million dollars being owed to the fund.
He highlighted the issue last evening, at the Annual General Meeting of the Labour Party’s St. George South Branch.
He noted the money was eventually paid by the current Government.
Hitting back at critics who have been calling for the BLP to repay the 1.3 Billion it wrote off to the NIS, Mr. Straughn also spoke about the DLP’s decisions that put the fund in the position it is currently in.
