Barbados has a new Calypso King.
First time finalist Quon walked away with the top prize in the Courtesy Garage Pic O De Crop Competition, held last night at Kensington Oval.
Quon, whose real name is Dequon Alleyne, amassed 107 points and beat out 17 other finalists including 2019 monarch Classic, with a song entitled Animal Kingdom.
His prizes include a 100 thousand dollar cash prize or a Nissan Leaf Electric vehicle.
It was a close finish for the other top positions. Second place went to Iweb with 92 points for his rendition of Dear Lord. Christal Cummins-Beckles received 91 points for her performance of Crazy to place third, while TC amassed 90 points with a song entitled Kaiso Reporter.
