Rwandan President Paul Kagame arrives in Barbados

April 15th, 2022

The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, has arrived in Barbados for an official visit.

He touched down at the Grantley Adams International Airport at 18 minutes to seven.

Under President Kagame’s leadership, Rwanda has seen unprecedented socio-economic and political progress, peace, stability, as well as social cohesion.

His nation in Central Africa, is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, at about eight per cent per annum.

This is mainly due to the development of key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, education, health, tourism and information and communications technology.

Tomorrow, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and the Rwandan President will have brief one-on-one discussions followed by bi-lateral talks.

He will also pay a courtesy call on the President, Dame The Most Honourable Sandra Mason.

In the evening, the two leaders will each plant a tree in the international section of the National Botanical Gardens at Waterford.

The visit coincides with the Barbados Government’s thrust to expand and deepen relations with countries in Africa.

President Kagame arrived this evening after a three-day official visit to Jamaica.
