Officials in the cultural sector have been explaining the decision not to hold a Junior Kadooment this year.
Chief Cultural Officer, at the National Cultural Foundation, Andrea Wells, says officials wanted to minimise the likelihood of a COVID-19 outbreak among children.
However, between April and July there will be a schools’ masquerade project, which will involve the band camps that usually produce Junior Kadooment costumes, teaching children the art form.
The costumes created will be displayed during parade days at the schools.
