Security on high alert at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital

January 12th, 2022

Security at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) has been placed on heightened alert and police investigations are ongoing after threats were made against QEH staff by a man in a video that has since gone viral.

The board of management in a statement said that threats against the safety and wellbeing of their staff are taken very seriously. However, due to its commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality, the hospital could not speak to any allegations made.

In spite of the current COVID-19 environment and other challenges faced, the QEH has assured the public its team remains committed to providing safe, quality, patient centred health care to Barbadians and visitors alike.

However, it notes despite its best efforts, there will be cases that are exceedingly difficult.

In such circumstances, the QEH says its medical and nursing teams continue to give of their best in these high pressure situations.

The board, management and staff also extend its sympathies to the family of the patient referenced in the video as family continue to grieve the loss of their loved one.
