UPDATE: Police identify man in fatal incident (5:30 p.m.)

Police have provided the identity of the man who was found dead in his vehicle after veering off the road at Charnocks, Christ Church.

He has been identified by family members as Shawn Ricardo Forde, 50 years, of Montrose Gardens, Christ Church.

Police added in a statement that his death has not been classified as a road fatality and that they are awaiting the results of a postmortem.

They have not ruled out the possibility that this may be a sudden death.

UPDATE: Man dies on ABC Highway (4:40 p.m.)

A man has died after his vehicle ran off the road on the Adams section of the ABC Highway.

Public Affairs and Communications Officer with the Barbados Police Service, Inspector Rodney Inniss, says that while they are currently treating the incident as a “road traffic fatality,” they are still investigating if other factors could have played a role in his death.

There is a serious accident on the
ABC Highway heading towards the Grantley Adams International Airport, around the turn to Charnocks, Christ Church.

CBC News understands that the accident just before the Tom Adams Roundabout has left at least one person seriously injured.

Emergency personnel, including two fire tenders, are on the scene.
