The usual Valentine’s Day shopping was disrupted today as some staff of the largest department store in the City, Bridgetown Duty Free, were off the job this morning.
However, the Broad Street establishment remained open for business.
The employees who participated in the action are members of the Barbados Workers’ Union.
General Secretary Toni Moore explains the matter stemmed from an outstanding lump sum payment.
She says since the December period, the Union met with the management of the company and today’s stand off is also connected to that outcome.
