Some businesses not focused on mandatory vaccinations

August 9, 2021

The head of one of the island’s tourist attractions does not plan to make it mandatory for staff there to be vaccinated, although he supports a requirement for visitors to the island to have taken the jab.

Larry Warren director of Abbey Holdings Inc., which boasts the island’s only functioning train as well as St Nicholas Abbey as its attractions, says not all of his employees are inoculated, but the natural environment and strict protocols in place should help them maintain safe operations

At a press briefing earlier this year, country manager for Chukka Barbados, Andrea Franklyn, said a majority of staff at Harrison’s Cave Eco-Adventure Park had already been vaccinated.

She told CBC News since then, more staff have been brought on, some of whom are not fully inoculated, as mandatory vaccines are not part of the plan.
