Four outstanding Barbadians received National Honours for their contribution to sports during this morning’s Independence Day Service at Kensington Oval.
These include CBC’s very own news and current affairs reporter and motorsports guru Trevor Thorpe. He was honoured with the Barbados Service Medal for his work as a media practitioner and his contributions to the development of motorsports in Barbados.
The Silver Trident of Excellence was awarded to Annette Beckett, for her stellar representation of Barbados in netball internationally and for her efforts as an administrator to improve the sport.
The Barbados Service Star award went to senior national sports council coach Adrian Donovan, for his outstanding service to sports development in Barbados.
And the Order of the Republic went to Chris Gibbs, for his outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry as a member of the renowned ‘Merrymen’ and as an athlete for Barbados in the sport of swimming.
