There’s relief coming for residents of Bawdens and surrounding areas in St. Andrew.
This as the St. Andrew’s Church bus service will soon be back to its original route.
The news was revealed by Chief Operations Officer of the Transport Board, Lynda Holder.
She says the return to the original service passing through Bawdens will start this Sunday.
Ms. Holder was speaking after a final test run of a bus crossing over the Bawdens temporary by-pass road.
The service over the bridge was re-routed in April last year, after the Bawdens Bridge was deemed unsafe and subsequently closed.
A sturdier, more durable temporary by-pass road has been constructed, which will allow heavy duty vehicles to cross.
Travel time for commuters on the Shorey Village and St. Andrew’s Church routes is expected to be greatly reduced.
Also observing the test were other officials from the Transport Board, as well as Parliamentary Representative for St. Andrew, Dr. Romel Springer.
He says he is pleased with the returning service.
