A St. Philip man has been left homeless, after a fire completely gutted his two bedroom residence at Rock Hall earlier today.
Police and fire officials arrived on scene quickly, but could not save the wooden property which was owned by 52 year old Ortis Samuel.
A second house adjacent to the structure, received some heat damage.
Eye witnesses tell CBC News that the alarm was sounded around three this afternoon, after they noticed plumes of smoke coming from the property.
A distraught Mr. Samuel, told CBC he had just left home when he got the dreaded news, and was unable to save anything except the clothes on his back.
Two water tenders from the Barbados Fire Service, along with eight officers under the command of Station Officer Tremell Perch, responded to the fire.
