As the island records higher temperatures in keeping with its dry season, along with more grass fires, the Sanitation Service Authority has issued a stern warning to trespassers who burn copper wire near its Mangrove Pond Landfill.

Public Relations Officer, Carl Padmore says the illegal activity has been occurring morning, noon and night, in the vicinity of the fourth phase of the Landfill and near an area reserved for controlled burning of mattresses.

Mr. Padmore showed the several patches of scorched earth at the site, as evidence of the fires.

He also warned perpetrators to cease and desist as their actions could easily trigger a national health crisis.

The SSA PRO says the Authority has heightened its response and intends to take further action in a bid to eliminate the trend.

He also disclosed anyone who is caught is at risk of being dealt with accordingly.
