Strides made in accomplishing SDG 6

March 22, 2023

Barbados this World Water Day is highlighting the strides made in accomplishing the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) which speaks to ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Works and Water Resources, Santia Bradshaw has credited the work of the Barbados Water Authority in providing residents with adequate, regular and safe supplies of potable water while collecting, treating and disposing of waste water.

Despite these efforts, she says work to solve the water and sanitation problems of any country cannot be the sole responsibility of a single organisation.

She revealed the BWA in its efforts to meet the SDG Goal of water and sanitation for all by 2030 is working to effect a number of institutional changes while partnering with key and willing stakeholders.

Ms. Bradshaw adds the Water Authority is in the process of rolling out a number of climate change-focused projects under the Water Sector Resilience Nexus for Sustainability.
