Students to undergo diagnostic testing

National diagnostic testing is to get underway across the island as the Ministry of Education seeks to understand the level of learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development 2021 Report, lockdowns resulted in 1.5 billion students across 188 countries being unable to attend school in person, causing lasting effects on the education of an entire generation.

To this end, the Ministry of Education will be administering diagnostic assessments to 2nd, 3rd and 4th form students across public secondary schools.

This from Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training Kay McConney, who says the Ministry will be working with students, teachers and parents to develop intervention strategies tailored to students needs.
