A study is presently being done to see if Barbados will have a major dengue outbreak this year, as it runs in three-year cycles and the last was in 2019.
Director of the Centre for Biosecurity Studies at the University of the West Indies, Dr. Kirk Douglas, says various mosquito borne diseases are on the radar, given the high temperatures and heavy rainfall which Barbados and the region are experiencing.
Of the diseases being watched, dengue is #1 on the list.
