Support for efforts to tackle youth obesity

The Barbados Association of Retired Persons (BARP) supports efforts at tackling obesity in young Barbadians, as its President Marilyn Rice-Bowen says doing so secures the future.

She has recognised the work of the Barbados Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition noting challenges will arise for the nation if today’s children are not healthy.

BARP meanwhile to mark World Obesity Day, partnered with the Ross University School of Medicine to stage a free clinic for its members.

There, various tests including body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure, were offered and members participated in lectures.

Dr. Rashida Daisley says Ross sees it as important to increase access to health services and playing its part in the fight.
