Survey on obesity among children ongoing

March 4th, 2022

The poor food choices made by parents, which lead to obesity and non-communicable diseases in children, may be more about ease than economics.

Chair of the Barbados Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition Suleiman Bulbulia says sometimes it’s not that healthy food costs more, but the unhealthy food is faster to prepare.

Speaking about activities for today’s World Obesity Day on CBC’s Mornin’ Barbados, Mr. Bulbulia said the exact number of obese children is not yet known as a survey is still ongoing, however, with the two years of limited movement, constant access to food and being at home, the outcomes could be high.
