Barbados and the region have been assured by a senior official of the World Bank, that the international institution will continue to provide resources through its various programmes to ensure resiliency in food production.
The commitment was given by the Alternate Executive Director for Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean at the World Bank Group, Christopher Sinckler.
He was at a time addressing a Caribbean Leaders Open Dialogue organised by the Caribbean Association of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund staff.
Mr Sinckler told the forum rising commodity has been a global problem for many years but has intensified recently placing several Caribbean countries on a precipice of living crisis.
He says the Caribbean, once a productive region, unlike others, was hard hit by many crises.
