Former ICBL Senior Vice President, Alex Tasker, has been ordered extradited to the United States by Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes to face money laundering charges brought by American authorities in an indictment.

The Chief Magistrate delivered the decision in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court today, determining in his ruling that a prima facie case had been made by Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Alliston Seale to justify the order for extradition.

Tasker was represented by attorney at law, Queen’s Counsel Andrew Pilgrim, in association with Lani Daisely and Neville Reid.

Mr. Pilgrim has since confirmed to CBC News that an appeal of the decision has been filed, and that his client is on bail pending that appeal.

US prosecutors have alleged that between August 2015 and April 2016, Tasker conspired with others to launder money in the US from outside the country in violation of US law.

The allegations by US authorities also involve former Cabinet Minister Donville Inniss, who is currently serving a two year sentence in a Texas jail, after he was convicted of money laundering charges in the US in January this year and sentenced in April.
