St. Michael North Parliamentary Representative, Ronald Toppin, will not be contesting the next general election.
The Barbados Labour Party stalwart made the announcement at a special branch meeting last night at Grazettes Primary School.
Toppin, who has won six elections, had 27 years as a Parliamentary Representative for that constituency, but 34 overall in the field of politics.
His recommendation as his replacement is the current St. Michael North Branch President, and Treasurer of the BLP Davidson Ishmael.
As he announced his pending departure, the MP said it was being done because he’s confident Mr. Ishmael is a worthy replacement in the wings.
