A senior Government Minister blames trade hurdles for the rapidly increasing cost of living.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Dr. Jerome Walcott says one of the main contributors is the sharp increase in shipping costs.
He’s however optimistic the issues will be addressed as Barbados sits down at the virtual round table with developed nations during the upcoming UNCTAD 15 – the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development.
Minister Walcott is of the view that developed nations have brushed aside the tenets of the UN and UNCTAD, bowing instead to the pressure and demands of the COVID-19 pandemic.
