Tragedy struck a family and community in St. Philip last night.
A tearful Michael Hunte lost his sister and all his worldly possessions in a blaze which destroyed two houses at Hillview, Marley Vale, St. Philip on Saturday, April 22, 2023. 67-year-old Carol Alleyne died in one of the timber houses. Police are continuing their investigations into that fire.
Mr. Hunte recalled the ordeal when a CBC News team visited the area today, explaining that six people are now homeless from the two burnt, uninsured houses.
He notes that he was visited by the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr. Sonia Browne and that while he has received comforting words, he is still trying to come to grips with what happened.
