Tropical wave becomes more disorganized

October 11, 2021

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is closely monitoring the progress of a tropical wave located near 56W (240 miles or 385 km) east of Barbados at 2 pm today, Monday 11 October.

Convection associated with the tropical wave has decreased during the late morning and early afternoon, resulting in a very disorganized appearance on satellite imagery.

This wave is not forecasted to develop any further by the time it passes Barbados, however scattered moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible as this system affects the island from tonight through to Tuesday.

The Met Office stressed that this system is not a tropical storm or depression and there are no tropical storm warnings or watches in effect for Barbados.

They urged the public to continue to monitor all official weather forecasts issued by the BMS.

This is the final information statement on this tropical wave.
