Tropical wave being closely monitored

October 10, 2021

The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of a tropical wave located near 51W at 2 pm today, Sunday 10 October.

The intensity of the convection associated with this wave has been fluctuating throughout the day. Some slow development is likely as the system encounters a marginally favorable environment over the next few days.

Analysis of model data indicates that the wave will begin to affect Barbados from Monday evening through to Tuesday morning.

Scattered moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds are possible as this system affects the island. This may result in flood watches or warnings being issued later on Monday afternoon if conditions warrant.

While the Barbados Meteorological Services stressed that this system is not a tropical storm or depression and that there are no tropical storm warnings or watches in effect for Barbados, they urged the public to continue to monitor all official updates issued by the BMS. The next update will be at 6 am tomorrow, Monday 11 October.
