Several truckloads of waste were cleared from a plot of land in Grazettes #1, St. Michael.
Crews from the Sanitation Service Authority and the Branford Taitt Polyclinic were present for the cleanup.
They were accompanied by members of the Barbados Police Service.
The individual responsible for the dumping has been identified as a young man from the area, and SSA Public Relations Officer Carl Padmore says they intend on getting the young man the help he needs in order to prevent the situation from recurring.
While describing the situation as a threat to public health, Minister of Health and Wellness and Member of Parliament for St. Michael West Central Ian Gooding-Edghill is appealing to owners of vacant land to tend to their lots in order to prevent trespassing and illegal dumping.
