In the latest update from the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA), flights between Barbados and the United States (US) should return to normal scheduling over the next 12 to 24 hours.
Chief Executive Officer of GAIA, Hadley Bourne told CBC News tonight no major delays were expected as the backlog of flights grounded in the US last night had started to clear.
It was his up-to-the-minute reaction regarding the move by the Federal Aviation Administration to stop all US domestic flight departures because of a glitch in its Notice to Air Missions system, which gives pilots pre-flight safety notices.
Although the system was refreshed this morning and flights in the US resumed, scheduling has been severely disrupted.
