Met Office monitoring two systems

September 20, 2021

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is monitoring two systems in the tropical Atlantic.

The first, Tropical Storm Rose which was located near 17.3N 33.4W at 11 am.  This system is moving towards the northwest at 16mph (26km/h), with maximum sustained winds of 40mph (65Km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 1007Mb.  The system is expected to continue north-westward over the next few days with a turn towards the north over the next few days.  Based on the initial trajectory, this system does not pose any direct threat to Barbados.

The second feature is a tropical wave located just off the African Coast.  This system is still in its early stages however initial guidance suggests possible tropical cyclone development over the next 5 days.  A general north-westward motion is expected with this system however, the BMS will continue to monitor the progression of this feature over the next few days.

The Met Office recommends that the public continue to monitor all updates and alerts issued on these systems.
