Regional grouping, CARICOM, at the invitation of the Government of Dominica has fielded a CARICOM Election Observation Mission (CEOM) to monitor the country’s general elections next Tuesday.

The Chief Election Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Elections and Boundaries Commission, Ms. Fern Narcis-Scope is heading the nine-member team there.

Members of the mission started arriving in Dominica on Friday and are due to leave by December 8.

CEOM is expected to meet with leaders of political parties, electoral officials and other stakeholders of Dominica.

The mission’s monitoring of the voting process will include overseeing opening of the poll, casting of votes, closing of the poll and the counting of ballots.

Meanwhile, on the campaign trail, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says despite the naysayers, his Dominica Labour Party is still the best choice for the country.
