Health authorities in the Bahamas are investigating a possible case of the monkeypox virus.
This after a visitor has been placed in isolation after showing symptoms linked to the disease.
Media reports say he is believed to be in his mid-40s and it is not clear when he arrived in the country.
However, Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Michael Darville says he understands the suspected case has been in New Providence for few days, after arriving on a British Airways flight.
The Health Minister revealed that samples were taken and forwarded to the Ministry for further evaluation.
He says the case appears to be an isolated one, adding that officials are fully informed and any possible spread is now under control completely.
