CARICOM Chairman and Antigua’s Prime Minister, Gaston Browne wants CARICOM and Africa to recognise the strength of their combined voices and use it on the world stage.
Prime Minister Browne was one of the leaders addressing the first ever Africa-CARICOM Conference held virtually.
He says CARICOM and Africa have always been the victims of inequity, which is clearly evident today in the vaccination levels against COVID-19.
According to him Europe and the US have more than 50 percent of their citizens vaccinated, while less than 30 percent of Africans have received the jab.
Prime Minister Browne told the forum he wants to see created, a Forum of African and CARICOM Territories and States, September 7th earmarked as Africa-CARICOM Day and efforts made to ensure the summit becomes an annual event.
