Barbados is being represented at the upcoming Agri-Investment Forum and Expo which opens this week in Guyana.
Host, Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha, confirmed Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is among five CARICOM heads of government to confirm they will be attending the event.
The historic event will feature over 100 exhibitors, both Guyanese and foreign, 62 agro-processors and a live animals exhibit.
Dr Mustapha says the regional event is in keeping with CARICOM’s aim to reduce its food import bill by 25 per cent by 2025
He says it will provide an opportunity for investors to contribute to food and nutrition security with a view to identifying areas where investments are needed.
The Agri-Investment Forum and Expo has the blessing of CARICOM as Assistant Secretary-general for Economic, Integration, Innovation and Development, Joseph Cox says it provides opportunities for partnerships.
