The Bahamas welcomes return of Junkanoo Summer Festival

The Bahamas’ Junkanoo Summer Festival is set to return this year.

This after it was suspended for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bahamas government says the Festival will take place on Saturdays in the month of July, with the exception of July 9th due to the Independence celebrations.

Director of Events Management at the Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (MOTIA) Charity Ambrister says as the pandemic has receded there has been a strong yearning for the return of their vibrant cultural festivals.

She says the Ministry is delighted to collaborate with the Junkanoo Corporation of New Providence (JCNP) to bring back the Summer Festival.

The MOTIA says both locals and visitors can experience and discover Bahamian culture and heritage in a safe and fun environment.

The Festival is expected to showcase various A-list Bahamian performing artists.
