Barbados records 24 new COVID-19 cases

There were 24 new COVID-19 cases – eight males and 16 females – recorded on Sunday, December 19, from the 759 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of these, two individuals were under the age of 18, and 22 were 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 145, while 1,054 were in home isolation.

As at December 19, there were 256 deaths from the viral illness.

The public health laboratory has carried out 459,489 tests since February last year, and recorded 27,242 cases (12,947 males and 14,295 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 155,242 (68 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of individuals who are fully vaccinated is 142,043 (52.4 per cent of the total population or 62.2 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
