Hurricane Larry to bring large swells

September 6, 2021

Hurricane Larry, which is located east-northeast of the region, is expected to generate northerly to north-easterly swells across the marine area of Barbados.

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) forecast this to occur from as early as tomorrow evening to Friday 10th September, particularly along western coastlines.

All marine operators should be prepared for the possibility of large open water swells, which can be hazardous to some vessels.

Operation of smaller vessels can be difficult at times, while small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.

They recommend that people continue to monitor the BMS for their updates and alerts, adding that they will next release information on this particular storm at 5 pm, tomorrow, Tuesday 7 September 2021.
