Weather update: Tuesday 28 June 2022

There are NO Tropical Storm Watches or Warnings in effect for Barbados.

Potential Tropical Cyclone #2 continues to struggle to get itself better organized tonight.

At 5:00 am potential tropical cyclone #2 was centered near 9.3N 55.2W or about 650 km (400 miles) southeast of Barbados.

General Discussion **

The system remains disorganized and convection has been sporadic throughout the night as it continues to track westward with an increase in forward speed near 20 mph (31km/h). Conditions appear favourable for further slow development and a tropical depression could form during the next few days as the center tracks well south of Barbados.

Regardless of development, BMS is urging the public to be ready and to remain on the alert for messages from this department and the Department of Emergency Management throughout the

day. Excess rainfall, severe thunderstorm and wind alerts remain elevated to yellow level for today, Tuesday 28th June 2022.

This means that the public should be aware that there is the POSSIBILITY of adverse weather conditions on Tuesday. A small craft warning remains in effect for above normal swells (2.5 to 3.0m) primarily for the eastern and southern coasts of Barbados up until 6:00 pm, Wednesday 29th June, 2022.

Technical Discussion **

Although the disturbance depicts a ball of convection near to its center, the system continues to struggle to maintain this and develop as it lacks a well-defined center. This may be a result of relatively dry air still wrapping in from the south and southeast of the system in the lower mid-levels.
