The West Indies made the worst possible start to their title defense at the ICC T20 World Cup today, after England crushed the regional side by six wickets in Dubai.

Sent into bat, the Windies were skiddled out for a paltry 55 in 14.2 overs.

Only Chris Gayle with 13 made it into double figures as the defending champions slumped to their second-lowest T20I total and the third-lowest at a T20 World Cup.

Leg spinner Adil Rashid took four for two, while there were two wickets apiece for Moeen Ali and Tymal Mills.

In reply, England slipped to 39-4, but Jos Buttler saw them over the line with 24 not out.

The West Indies will remain in Dubai for their next match against South Africa on Tuesday at 6:00 a.m.
