More silverware for Barbados

Barbados had nine medals at the 50th CARIFTA Track and Field Games in The Bahamas –  2-gold, 5-silver and 2-bronze, at the time of the Easter Monday broadcast of CBC NewsNight.

This evening they added five of those medals in what is the final session.

Nya Browne got things going when she claimed the bronze medal in the Under 20 Girls 100 Metre Hurdles with a personal best run of 13.80 seconds. 

Two more medals were then picked up in the Under 17 Girls 800 Metre when Ashlyn Simmons added a silver in the 1500 and Chanecia Bryan staked claim to the bronze. Their times were two minutes, 16.28 seconds and 2 minutes, 16.81 seconds.

Layla Haynes put down a sprint for home to claim the silver medal in the Under 20 Girls 800 race in a time of 2 minutes, 11.90 seconds.

And Favion Gollop repeated the sprint to the podium in the Under 20 Boys race to claim the silver in a time of one minute, 52.33 seconds.
