Roger Boyce Classic set to begin

June 1, 2023

Some of the world’s best bodybuilding and fitness athletes will grace the stage at the Wildey Gym along with our top local competitors for the Roger Boyce Classic 2023.

Outside of the competition being a pro qualifier, history is set to be made when on the evening of June 3, the Ladies’ World Physique Championships will also be contested.

Sancitioned by the CAC Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, along with the sport’s international body – the IFBB – this will be the first time that competition will be held outside of the European region, and this opens major doors for Barbados.

Roger Boyce Classic PRO Shakira Douglin says it also allows the platform for spectators to see some of the world’s best showcased.

President of the National Federation, Dr. Alfred Sparman, says hosting such an event is in his executive’s mandate of developing the sport to its fullest potential.

Among the athletes carrying the local flag at this week’s Roger Boyce Classic 2023, is Men’s Physique competitor Ryan Haynes.

He sees this event as a great opportunity to be exposed to the international stage.

The IFBB Elite Pro Roger Boyce Classic will be part of the IFBB Elite Pro calendar for this year as well as being one of the IFBB Grand Slam events in 2023, and will run from June 1 to 4 at the Garfield Sobers Gym.
