Barbados have added two more medals to their tally at the inaugural CAC Beach Games 2022 in Santa Marta, Colombia.
They came in surfing, as top surfers Chelsea Tuach and Josh Burke both captured silver.
Burke finished the finals of the Men’s Shortboard competition with a 13.80 score to take the second position behind Puerto Rico’s Dwight Pastrana whose heat total was 16.30. Third went to another Puerto Rican – Ricardo Delgado Rodriguez.
Burke said it was an honour to do well for his country.
Meanwhile, Tuach surfed a strong final to claim the silver in the Women’s Shortboard competition with a total of 9.47.
The winner was Colombia’s Isabella Maria Gomez Brady with a 10.40 heat total and third was Venezuela’s Rosanny Alvarez. Of note is that Barbados’ Chelsea Roett was also in the final and finished a commendable fourth place.
Tuach spoke about the experience.
Barbados’ medal tally now stands at three, as these two are added to the bronze from wrestler Reuben Wiltshire earlier in the week.
