Incumbent Opposition Leader Bishop Joseph Atherley, will not be defending his St Michael West seat.
Atherley is the leader of the People’s Party for Democracy and Development (PdP), as well as the newly formed alliance with the United Progressive Party (UPP), Alliance Party for Progress (APP). He won the St Michael West seat as a member of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) in the 2018 General Election, before forming the PdP to become the Opposition Leader.
CBC News understands that Atherley will now seek nomination for the St Michael Central seat, to go up against the Barbados Labour Party’s Arthur Holder in the January 19 poll. Patsie Nurse will instead seek to represent the APP in the St Michael West constituency.
