The criteria for the AstraZeneca booster shot has been widened to include all eligible persons, 18 years and older.
Word of this has come from the Co-coordinator of the Immunisation Unit, Major David Clarke. Previously, the booster was given to individuals 70 years and older, immunocompromised persons, as well as to frontline and healthcare workers.
Now, all adults who received their second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine six months ago or longer, will qualify for the booster or third shot.
It will be administered at all of the vaccination sites across the island from today, Tuesday 2 November.
At present, a booster shot is only being offered for the AstraZeneca vaccine.
