Crop Over 2022 is officially here

The first official Crop Over event was launched Wednesday night, the Crop Over 2022 Central Bank Visual Arts Exhibition.

While this is a cause for celebration after COVID-19 caused a two-year hiatus, there was some not so good news for the local potter industry.

Feature speaker, artist Julianna Inniss, who works mainly in clay, said they faced a major challenge in the ceramic community as the main supplier to  studio potters and schools closed its doors.

However, she added that right now they were exploring alternatives and tests are being done.

Central Bank Governor Cleviston Haynes, said they were happy about the return of the exhibition after its two year hiatus due to COVID-19.

The Exhibition opening was attended by the Board of the National Cultural Foundation, the Central Bank Governor, sponsors, artists, as well as art enthusiasts and lovers.

The event is being held at the Queen’s Park Steel Shed and will be open to the public from May 31 through August 27, from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday.

A mix of mediums are on display by local artists reflecting several elements of Barbados and its history.
