The Barbados Light and Power Company has revealed an increase in its fuel clause adjustment (FCA) for September but the continuation of a reduced VAT rate on residential electricity bills should help cushion the impact on consumers.
Light and Power’s FCA for September was announced at about 39 cents per kilowatt hours, up two cents from last month. The FCA is basically what it costs the power company to produce electricity.
The BL&P’s Manager of Customer Services Rodney Dottin says the Ministry of Finance has since confirmed the discounted VAT rate of 7.5%, which ended on September 30, has been extended into early next year.
He adds customers who use e-billing would see their bills from today.
The BL&P official also gave an update on the discounting process.
