Grenada announces travel ban for travellers from southern African countries

Grenada has become the first CARICOM country to announce that it will not be allowing people from several southern African countries into the island as a result of the newly identified COVID-19 variant, Omicron.

This according to an official government statement.

The discovery of the variant by South African health authorities sparked reaction across the world, with a number of countries implementing restrictions for travellers from several southern African countries.

Grenada says people with a travel history in the last 14 days to South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini will not be allowed into the island.
